How Long Is Retirement In Military

was real glory? At IIIA will judge

We have just finished reading "Five May " Manzoni, dedicated to the death of Napoleon Bonaparte.

In the past, his figure for better or for worse, he dreaming so much, embodied the ideals of freedom . But then that everyone, without exception, were then forced to change his mind and understand, the hard way that freedom is not the gives no ...

the French Revolutionaries they understood, Manzoni and write it Mazzini ( March 1821) and practice (Thousand Ships ) ; Europe will understand more than 100 years after the sanction and in fact after the Second World War, when, in 1945 , founded the 'UN (United Nations, created to keep the peace), it was determined that it should be directed to " develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples ... "

And so, in those years, there was:

  • who saw him as a "fatal man" (man of Providence, as it was called Mussolini has stopped some figures and style), who saw him "brilliant in Solio, as J ean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres
  • who painted it undone, beset by memories, lost in thought, now safe:

  • who wrote a work for him whole, only to change the dedication, highlighting its character from the tyrant ( Beethoven, Third Symphony, Eroica History)

  • those who betrayed him and was just as self-exile as Foscolo, who writes so young ( Ode to Bonaparte the Liberator )
"Italy People [...]
There gazes and shudders around the regnator [...]
And a single Liberator dievvi fate.

but then he writes in ' Ortis, to paraphrase Dante

cry my home, What was taken from me, and how much m 'offends.
born Italian, and helpers one day at home: - Other sel believe, and I said, and will always answer: Nature has created tyrant and the tyrant does not look at home, and did not.

And today?
after so many years, what do you think? was a "great?" What does "great" man? What is today "have glory?" What is the relationship between the size and respect, including respect and glory, between the greatness and freedom? It can be great who is not free?
